The Agricultural Engineering Research Institute (AERI) was established in ۱۹۹۰ (۱۳۶۹ SH) in Karaj to provide a systematic framework for addressing the technical and engineering challenges of Iran's agricultural sector.

Recognizing the importance of bridging scientific knowledge and practical field applications, the Institute has undergone continuous institutional development and achieved numerous scientific and technological milestones over more than three decades of continuous scientific activity.

"Major Milestones and Timeline"

۱۹۹۰s

Foundation and Institutional Development

During its formative years, the Institute focused on identifying the technical and engineering needs of the agricultural sector, establishing research capacities, and strengthening its scientific foundations. In ۱۹۹۶ (۱۳۷۵ SH), it launched the first peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to agricultural engineering in Iran, providing a platform for the dissemination of research findings and technological advancements in this field.

۲۰۰۰s

National Expansion and Research Network Development

During the ۲۰۰۰s, the Institute expanded its research network to ۱۵ key provinces across Iran and enhanced the international visibility of its scientific outputs through the inclusion of its publications in recognized indexing databases, including CABI and the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC).

۲۰۱۹ (۱۳۹۸SH)

Innovation and Technology Commercialization

The Institute established the Agricultural Engineering Technology Business Incubator to support technology-based startups, foster innovation, and facilitate the commercialization of research outcomes in support of domestic production and technological development.

۲۰۲۲ (۱۴۰۱ SH)

Institutional Transformation: AERI Press

Following official authorization from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, AERI Press was established as an independent publishing unit, strengthening the Institute's capacity for scholarly publishing and scientific knowledge dissemination.

۲۰۲۳ (۱۴۰۲ SH)

Integration of Testing and Quality Control Center

The Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Testing and Quality Control Center was transferred to and integrated into the Institute. Through this strategic development, the Institute assumed national responsibility for the testing, standardization, performance evaluation, and certification of agricultural machinery and equipment.

Looking Forward

Today, building upon this valuable legacy, the Institute continues to pursue its strategic vision with a forward-looking approach focused on smart agriculture, technological innovation, and long-term food security, reinforcing its position as a leading national hub for agricultural engineering research and technology development.
